This guide will introduce you to the resources and services available to visiting scholars and researchers at the Harvard Law School Library. If you are interested in learning more about the process of applying to the Visiting Researcher and Visiting Scholar program, please consult the Visiting Scholar and Researcher (VS/VR) Program webpage. The Visiting Researchers contribute to a lively community at CMES that encourages interdisciplinary contact. Center affiliation includes full access to Harvard Libraries and many other University facilities.

A visiting scholar is considered an independent researcher and may not register for and take classes for credit. Visiting researchers range from Ph.D. students (called “fellows” at Harvard) to junior and tenured faculty members (“visiting scholars”). Postdoctoral fellows must have received their Ph.D. degree by the time of their appointment; we will currently only consider postdoc applicants who have secured external funding as our internally funded positions are filled. Visiting fellows are considered full-time research students, with access to Harvard University’s libraries and facilities, and may apply for membership in the Harvard Faculty Club.
